This edition is still being written, illustrated and tested. We only sell an edition once all 30 missions are finished in both formats.
Also part of Choose Any 3 ($74.99) and the Complete Collection ($184.99), each for one age level.
The goal: Relight the lamps up Lantern Peaks so the summit beacon can guide travellers over the pass.
Your child’s part: Your child breaks a big climb into small steps, parks distractions and comes back to the task. Each stretch they finish relights the path, until the beacon shines and the villages beyond the pass can be reached before winter.
Focus and perseverance are about staying with something a little longer, noticing distractions and feeling proud of finishing a manageable challenge.
Just gentle ideas to help you choose.
The story goal: Relight the lamps up Lantern Peaks so the summit beacon can guide travellers over the pass.

Mika says: “Oh! My lamp keeps flickering. Something keeps pulling my eyes away.”Mika
Here is Mika the hedgehog. Here is her little lamp. Glow, glow, glow.
Mika walks up the Quiet Trail. A blue butterfly floats by. Mika looks. Flicker, flicker! goes the lamp. A pine cone drops. Plop! Mika looks. Flicker, flicker!
First, a choice: 3 options
On the printed page: Circle each thing you find, or just point.
By the end they have: Flicker! added to the toolbox; things found circled on the trail picture.
You will need: This page
Smaller step if needed: Find just the butterfly today. The grown-up can point near it first.
The grown-up’s part: Voice Mika. At the meal, look away slowly and obviously so it's easy to catch. Laugh when you're caught.
At one meal today, watch your grown-up: when they look away on purpose, shout Flicker! Then swap.
What it practises: Practise noticing when eyes and ears get pulled away, by spotting the things that pull Mika's eyes away.
