The goal: Gather the drifting clouds so the Cloudtop Isles draw close together again.
Your child’s part: Your child plans, chooses and has a go at jobs on their own, and decides when to ask for help. Each job they take on gathers a cloud, until the isles draw close and Sky can fly solo at the air show.
Independence is doing things for yourself and making choices that fit your age, from packing a bag to planning an afternoon.
Just gentle ideas to help you choose.
The story goal: Gather the drifting clouds so the Cloudtop Isles draw close together again.

Yara says: “One nest is for Can do. One nest is for Help me. Both nests are good nests.”Yara
Sky stands on the edge of her nest. She flaps her wings. Flap, flap, wobble... flump! She lands on her bottom.
"I can't fly," says Sky. "I can't do anything!"
Yara the yak peeks over the ledge. She has two little nests.
First, a choice: 3 options
On the printed page: Draw a line from each picture to a nest, or point.
By the end they have: Two picture nests sorted; Can do, help me added to the toolbox.
You will need: The two nests on this page, or two bowls or cushions
Smaller step if needed: Sort just two pictures today, the spoon and the shoes.
The grown-up’s part: Let your child's answer stand, even if you think they can (or can't) do it. This is about how they see it today.
This week, pick one Help me picture and try it with your grown-up's hands right next to yours.
What it practises: Practise noticing what you can do yourself and what you'd like help with, using two picture nests.
