The goal: Gather the drifting clouds so the Cloudtop Isles draw close together again.
Your child’s part: Your child plans, chooses and has a go at jobs on their own, and decides when to ask for help. Each job they take on gathers a cloud, until the isles draw close and Sky can fly solo at the air show.
Independence is doing things for yourself and making choices that fit your age, from packing a bag to planning an afternoon.
Just gentle ideas to help you choose.
The story goal: Gather the drifting clouds so the Cloudtop Isles draw close together again.

Sky says: “Yara says flyers sort their jobs into three nests. The I can nest. The with help nest. And the not yet nest.”Sky
Sky stands at the very edge of her nest. She flaps as hard as she can. Her feathers puff up, her scarf slides over one eye, and she doesn't lift off at all.
"Never mind," she says. She tips out a basket of cards. Each card shows a job: tie a bow, pour a drink, fly to the far isle.
First, a choice: 3 options
On the printed page: Draw a line from each card to a nest, or cut out the cards and sort them.
By the end they have: Task nests sorted; Three nests added to the toolbox.
You will need: The task cards (cut out, or use the page) · Three bowls, hats or cushions as nests (optional)
Smaller step if needed: Sort four cards into two nests: I can and with help.
The grown-up’s part: Let your child decide where each card goes, even if you'd sort it differently. If you're not sure about an I can card, say: Show me later! and move on.
Pick one card from your with help nest and practise that job with a grown-up beside you three times this week.
What it practises: Practise noticing which jobs you can do yourself, which you do with help, and which are not yet.
