The goal: Untangle the muddled messages of River Talk Town so its boats and bridges work again.
Your child’s part: Your child listens for clues, says what they need and asks the questions that untangle each message. Every message they put right lights a buoy, until the bells on Big Voice Bridge can ring again.
Communication is both sides of talking: saying what you need clearly and listening so others feel heard.
Just gentle ideas to help you choose.
The story goal: Untangle the muddled messages of River Talk Town so its boats and bridges work again.

Ollie says: “Oh no! I talked so much, the frog didn't get a turn.”Ollie
Toot toot! Here comes a boat! A little frog is on board.
Ollie runs to the edge. "Hello hello hello! Did you have a nice trip? Do you like fish? I like fish. Guess what I had for breakfast..."
Bob, bob. The boat floats away. The frog never got a hello back.
First, a choice: 3 options
On the printed page: Point to the hello you'll give first.
By the end they have: Harbour hellos for every teddy.
You will need: A few teddies or toys · A toy boat, a shoe or a box to push
Smaller step if needed: Say hello to just one teddy, or let the boat do the waving.
The grown-up’s part: Voice the teddies and have them answer every kind of hello warmly. Keep your own hello short too.
This week, with your grown-up right beside you, wave or say hello to someone you meet and say their name if you know it.
What it practises: Practise greeting someone in a way that suits you: a wave, a smile or hello and a name.
