The goal: Untangle the muddled messages of River Talk Town so its boats and bridges work again.
Your child’s part: Your child listens for clues, says what they need and asks the questions that untangle each message. Every message they put right lights a buoy, until the bells on Big Voice Bridge can ring again.
Communication is both sides of talking: saying what you need clearly and listening so others feel heard.
Just gentle ideas to help you choose.
The story goal: Untangle the muddled messages of River Talk Town so its boats and bridges work again.

Ollie says: “Right. I've got this. Hello! Did you know the frogs moved lily pads on Tuesday, and also the ferry...”Ollie
The harbour bell clangs twice. That means boats. Ida the seal, the harbourmaster, slides a clipboard across the welcome desk to you and Ollie.
"Three boats today," she says. "Each visitor gets a proper hello. Not a speech, Ollie. A hello."
The story continues in the mission.
First, a choice: 4 options
On the printed page: Draw a line from each visitor to the hello you'd use.
By the end they have: Welcome desk clipboard: three visitors greeted.
You will need: Three hats, scarves or props for the visitors (optional) · Scraps of paper for the hidden trip facts (optional)
Smaller step if needed: Greet one visitor with a wave and their name, and ask one question.
The grown-up’s part: Play the visitors with some character: a grumpy crab, a nervous toad. Only give up the hidden trip fact when a question gets close to it.
This week, greet someone you don't know well at school or a club by name, and ask them one question about their weekend.
What it practises: Practise greeting someone by name and asking one question about them, then listening to the answer.
