The story

The goal: Relight the great campfire so the camp in Campfire Hills can stay open together.

Your child’s part: Your child decides how to join in, share, take turns and sort out a fall-out fairly. Each thing the camp remembers brings back an ember, until the campers sit round the fire together again.

Friendship and teamwork mean joining in, sharing a goal, taking turns and repairing things when a disagreement happens.

Why parents might choose it
  • Joining a group of children feels hard
  • Playdates often end in disagreements
  • You’d like siblings to cooperate more

Just gentle ideas to help you choose.

The New Camper

Bo says: “Her name is Ivy. She's a raccoon with a stripy tail. Maybe she's hiding because everything here is new.”

  • About 10 to 15 min
  • Story read aloud to them
  • Guided play, growing independence
  • Hidden things

Hello Hill is the busiest field in Campfire Hills. Tents stand in long rows. Bunting flaps in the wind. Campers run, hop and shout.

Bo the bear stands under the wooden welcome sign. His orange friendship band peeks out from his fur. "A new camper came this morning," he says. "Ranger Maple told me. But I can't see her anywhere!"

Word for word from Mission 1 of the draft The Friendship Camp for ages 5-6. The edition is not yet approved, so wording may change, and the mission’s own illustrations are still to come.
