Also part of Choose Any 3 ($74.99) and the Complete Collection ($184.99), each for one age level.
The goal: Relight the lamps up Lantern Peaks so the summit beacon can guide travellers over the pass.
Your child’s part: Your child breaks a big climb into small steps, parks distractions and comes back to the task. Each stretch they finish relights the path, until the beacon shines and the villages beyond the pass can be reached before winter.
Focus and perseverance are about staying with something a little longer, noticing distractions and feeling proud of finishing a manageable challenge.
Just gentle ideas to help you choose.
The story goal: Relight the lamps up Lantern Peaks so the summit beacon can guide travellers over the pass.

Mika says: “Did you see that? My lamp flickers when my eyes wander off. It tells me before I even know.”Mika
The Quiet Trail winds up through tall pine trees. Mika marches in front, her brass lamp swinging on its cord.
Then a blue butterfly drifts past her nose. Mika turns to watch it. Her lamp goes flicker, flicker, and the path goes dark.
"Oh!" Mika spins back round. The lamp glows steady again.
First, a choice: 4 options
On the printed page: Circle four things that pull Mika's eyes away.
By the end they have: Distraction list: four things circled on the trail picture; Flicker check added to the toolbox.
You will need: The trail picture on this page · A crayon for circling (optional)
Smaller step if needed: Find two things, with the grown-up saying warmer or colder.
The grown-up’s part: Go first with a real example of your own, such as: I get pulled away by my phone. Keep it light; noticing is the skill, not staying still.
During one meal or story time today, notice one thing that pulls your eyes away and whisper Flicker check to your grown-up.
What it practises: Practise noticing the moment your eyes and thoughts are pulled away from what you are doing.
Word for word from Mission 1 of the draft The Lantern Climb for ages 5-6. The edition is not yet approved, so wording may change, and the mission’s own illustrations are still to come.
Six missions in each chapter. Finishing a chapter lights up a new star on the map, on paper and on screen.

Puzzles, Memory game, Craft, Movement, Reflection.
Choose an age level to see how the missions work at that stage, or compare all four on Age levels.
The same mission plays on paper or on screen with the same answer. This is how each activity type changes between the two formats.
